BRAZORIA COUNTY TRUST PROPERTY
RESALE INFORMATION

No offers will be accepted if you owe delinquent taxes.

Please read carefully:  

Brazoria County or the taxing jurisdiction that initiated the sale holds a property that does not sell at a public auction in trust.  Offers to purchase “Resale property” can be made through the Brazoria County Tax Office.  An offer must be in writing and submitted in person or by mail by the first Wednesday of each month.  Any offers received after that Wednesday will be submitted to the next months Resale Meeting.

Please be sure to include the following information in your offer:

  1. Name, address and telephone number
  2. Property Tax Account Number
  3. Amount offered
  4. 10% deposit (min. $50 and max. $1,000) must be submitted with each offer.

It is the responsibility of anyone making an offer on trust property to research the property.
The County Tax Office does not research trust property.

 It may be advisable, before making an offer on property, to contact a title company or an attorney to find any liens or other encumbrances on the property.  Location maps may be obtained from the Plat Department in the Tax Office. 

For six months after the Sheriff Auction, offers less than 100% will not be considered.

After an offer is received it is presented to the Tax Resale Committee.  If this committee accepts an offer, approval must be sought from all taxing units having an interest in the property.  If the Committee rejects an offer, the Committee may or may not suggest an amount that would be acceptable. 

Once all taxing units accept an offer, the offer is presented to Commissioner’s Court.  Once the Commissioner’s Court accepts the approval process is complete.  Payment in full using check, money order or cashiers check must be made to the County Tax Office within 14 days of being notified of acceptance.  A quitclaim deed will be issued upon receipt of full payment. 

The 10% deposit will be credited toward the final amount.  However, if payment has not been made within the above-specified 14 days the deposit would be forfeited.  If the Tax Resale Committee rejects an offer the deposit will be refunded in full. 

Resale Committee reserves the right to accept or reject any and/or all offers for any reason. 

Please put the Name to be on Deed in the space provided on bid sheet.  Once the deed is written there will be no changes.
